YAHWEH'S New Covenant Law Written In The Heart

The whole of the Covenant blessing centers in this; the heart being put right and made to know YAHWEH: "I will give them a heart to know ME that I am YAHWEH,  and they will be MY people and I will be their Mighty One  because they will return to ME with their whole heart.

With the Law written on the heart, YAHWEH can be our Mighty One, and we will be YAHWEH'S called out assembly. "But this is the Covenant that I will make with the house of Yisrael; after so many days says YAHWEH, I will put MY Law in their inner being and write it on their hearts and I will be to them their Mighty One and they will be MY people. And they will no longer teach a man his neighbor, saying know YAHWEH, because they will all know ME from the least one to the greatest, I will forgive their evil acts and I will remember their Law breaking no more." YermeYah (Jeremiah) 31:33,34

YeshaYahu (Isaiah) has often been called the proclaimer of the MESSIYAH for the wonderful clearness with which he proclaims the MESSIYAH who was to come, both in the MESSIYAH'S suffering and humbled position, and in the honour of the kingdom HE was to establish. Yet it was given to YermeYah- (Jeremiah) in this passage and to Yehezqel (Ezekiel) in the parallel one, to prophesy what would actually be the outcome of the MESSIYAH'S work, and the character of the deliverance HE was to bring in, with a distinctness which is nowhere found in the older prophet. In words which the New Covenant Ivrim- (Hebrews) 8 takes as the uncovering by YAHWEH of what the New Covenant is, of which the MESSIYAH is the Mediator, YAHWEH'S plan is revealed and we are shown what it is that YAHWEH will do in us to make us fit and worthy of being the called out of YAHWEH, who is our Mighty One. Through all of the Old Covenant there was always one trouble, man's heart was not right with  YAHWEH. In the New Covenant this evil is to be corrected. Its central promise is a heart delighting in YAHWEH'S Law and capable of knowing and having fellowship with YAHWEH. Let us take note of the four blessings spoken of.

1. “I will put MY Law in their inner beings and write it on their hearts."

In our inner being or our heart, there are no separate chambers in which the Law can be put, while the rest of the heart can be given up to other things; our inner being and heart are a unity. Nor are the inner being and the heart like a house, which can be filled with things of an entirely different nature from what the walls are made of, without any living organic connection. No, the inner being, the heart, are the disposition, the love, the will, the life. Nothing can be put into the inner being, especially by YAHWEH, by entering and taking possession of it, without securing its affection and controlling its whole being. And this is what YAHWEH undertakes to do in YAHWEH'S power, life and work, to breath the very Spirit of YAHWEH'S Law into and through the whole inner being. "I will put it into their inner beings and write it on their hearts." At Sinai, the Tablets of the Covenant with the Law written on them were stone, as a lasting substance. It is easy to understand what this means. The stone was wholly SetApart for one reason, to carry and show YAHWEH'S writing. The writing and the stone were inseparably connected. And so the heart in which YAHWEH gets YAHWEH'S way and writes YAHWEH'S Law in power, lives only and wholly to carry that writing and is unchangeably identified with it. YAHWEH alone can fulfill YAHWEH'S purpose in creation, and have YAHWEH'S child of one mind and Spirit with YAHWEH, who delights in doing YAHWEH'S will. When the Old Covenant, with the Law carved on stone had done its work in the discovering and condemning of Law breaking, the New Covenant would give in its place the life of obedience and true separation from evil in the heart. The whole of the Covenant blessing centers in this; the heart being put right and made to know YAHWEH: "I will give them a heart to know ME that I am YAHWEH, and they will be MY people and I will be their Mighty One because they will return to ME with their whole heart." YermeYah 24:7.

2. "And I will be to them their Mighty One and they will be MY people."

Do not pass by these words lightly, they occur in YermeYah and Yehezqel- (Ezekiel) in connection with the promise of the everlasting Covenant. They express the ,very highest experience of the Covenant relationship. It is only when YAHWEH'S people learn to love and obey YAHWEH'S Law, that their heart and life are together wholly devoted to YAHWEH and YAHWEH'S will, that YAHWEH can be to them the altogether inconceivable blessing which these words express, "I will be your Mighty One." All YAHWEH is and has will be yours, all you can need or wish for in a Mighty One, YAHWEH will be to you! In the fullest meaning of the word, I, the All Present One will always be present with you. In YAHWEH'S unmerited favor and love, YAHWEH the Almighty One will each moment work all in you, by YAHWEH'S mighty power. I, YAHWEH, YAHSHUA, and the SetApart Spirit, will reveal MY pure (separated from evil) life within you, I will be your Mighty One ! And you will be MY People, delivered, happy, ruled, guided and provided for by ME, known and seen to be indeed the people of the Pure One, the Mighty One of honour and power. Let us give our hearts time to meditate and wait for the SetApart Spirit to work in us all that these words mean.

3. "And they will no longer teach a man his neighbor, saying know YAHWEH, because they will all know ME from the least one to the greatest."

Individual personal fellowship with YAHWEH, from the weakest and the least, is to be the wonderful privilege of every member of the New Covenant SetApart Ones. Each one will know YAHWEH. This does not mean the knowledge of the mind, this is not the equal privilege of all, and that in itself may hinder fellowship more than help it, but it means that knowledge which takes possession and absorbs all that the Spirit gives and teaches, which is eternal life. As the Son knew the ABBA, because YAHWEH was one with YAHSHUA and dwelt in HIM, the child of YAHWEH receive by the SetApart Spirit, the spiritual light which will make YAHWEH to him the One he knows best, because the child loves YAHWEH most and lives in YAHWEH. The promise; "They shall all be taught by YAHWEH, will be fulfilled by the SetApart Spirit of YAHWEH. YAHWEH will speak to each out of YAHWEH'S Word what each needs to know.

4. "I will forgive their evil acts, and I will remember their Law breaking no more."

The Word foretells that this is the reason for all that precedes. Because YAHSHUA'S Blood of the New Covenant is of such infinite work, and YAHSHUA Mediator and High Kohen in the heavens is of anointed power, there is promised by that Blood such a complete blotting out of Law breaking, that YAHWEH remembers it no more. It is this entire blotting out: of Law breaking that cleans and sets us free from its power, so that YAHWEH can write HIS Law in our hearts and show YAHWEH'S power as our Mighty One, by YAHWEH'S Spirit, who reveals to us YAHWEH'S deep things, the truth revealed of YAHWEH and YAHWEH'S love. It is the atonement and price paid of YAHSHUA the MESSIYAH, who brought it about without us, yet for us, that removes every obstacle and satisfied the obligations for YAHWEH, and to make us ready, so that the Law in the heart, and our claim on YAHWEH, and the knowledge of YAHWEH could now be our daily life and our eternal portion.

Here we now have YAHWEH'S summary of the New Covenant inheritance. The last-named blessing, the pardon of Law breaking, is the first in order, the root of all. The second having YAHWEH as our Mighty One and third, the SetApart Spirit's teachings are the fruit. The tree itself that grows on this root, and bears such fruit, is what is named first the Law written on the heart.

With the Law written on the heart, YAHWEH can be our Mighty One,

The central demand of the Old Covenant, "Obey' MY voice and I will be your Mighty One," has now been met. With the Law written on the heart, YAHWEH can be our Mighty One, and we will be YAHWEH'S called out assembly. Perfect harmony with YAHWEH'S will, SetApart from evil in heart and life, is the only thing that can satisfy YAHWEH'S heart or ours. And it is this the New Covenant gives in YAHWEH'S power, "I will give them a heart to know ME and I will be their Mighty One, and they will be MY people, because they will turn to ME with their whole heart." It is on the state of the heart, it is on the new heart, as given by YAHWEH, that the New Covenant life depends.

But why, if all this is meant to be literally and exactly' true of YAHWEH'S people; why do we see so little of this life, or experience so little of it in ourselves? There is but one answer, because of your unbelief! We have spoken of the relationship of YAHWEH and man in creation as what the New Covenant is meant to make possible and real, but the Law cannot be revoked that YAHWEH will not force us to comply. YAHWEH can only fulfill YAHWEH'S plan as each heart is willing and accepts YAHWEH'S offer. In the New Covenant, all is belief and trust, let us turn away from what human wisdom and human experience may say, and ask YAHWEH to teach us what YAHWEH'S Covenant means. If we persist in this prayer in a humble and teachable spirit, we can count on its promise, "They will no longer teach a man his neighbor: Know YAHWEH, for they will all know ME." The teaching of YAHWEH by the SetApart Spirit to make us understand what YAHWEH'S Word says, is our Covenant right. Let us count upon it, it is only by YAHWEH given belief and trust that we can receive these YAHWEH given promises. It is only by a YAHWEH given teaching and inward light, that we can see their meaning, so that we can believe them. When YAHWEH teaches us the meaning of YAHWEH'S promises in a heart yielded to YAHWEH'S Spirit; only then can we believe and receive them in a power which makes them a reality in our life.

But is it really possible amid the wear and tear of daily life to walk in the experience of these blessings? Are they really meant for all of YAHWEH'S children? Let us rather ask this question, Is it possible for YAHWEH to do what YAHWEH has promised? One part of the promise we believe, the complete and perfect pardon of Law breaking, yet why should we not believe the other part, the Law written on our heart and the direct fellowship and teaching of YAHWEH? We have been so accustomed to separate what YAHWEH has joined together, the objective outward work of YAHSHUA and the subjective inward work of the SetApart Spirit, that we consider the honour of the New Covenant above the Old to consist mainly in the redeeming work of the MESSIYAH for us and not equally in the work of separating us from evil, done by the Spirit in us. It is because of this ignorance and unbelief of the indwelling of the Spirit, as the power through whom YAHWEH fulfills the New Covenant promises that we do not really expect them to be made true in us.

Do let us turn our hearts away from all past experience of failure, as caused by nothing but unbelief; do let us admit fully and whole heartily what failure has taught us, the absolute impossibility of even a regenerate man to walk in YAHWEH'S Law in his own strength, and then turn our hearts quietly and trustfully to our Covenant Mighty One. Let us listen to what YAHWEH says that YAHWEH will do for us and believe, let us rest on YAHWEH'S unchangeable faithfulness and guarantee of the Covenant; on YAHWEH'S Almighty power and the SetApart Spirit working in us and let us give up ourselves to YAHWEH as our Mighty One. YAHWEH will prove that what YAHWEH has done for us in YAHSHUA the MESSIYAH is not one bit more wonderful than what YAHWEH will do in us everyday by the Spirit of the MESSIYAH. HalleluYah!
