acan took of the acursed thing causing Yisrile to be curesd..at Jericho

The Siege Of Jericho

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:1

Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Yisrael: none went out, and none came in.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:2

And YAHWEH said to Yehoshua, See, I have given into your hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:3

And you shall compass the city, all you men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shall you do six days.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:4

And seven kohenim shall bear before the ark seven shofar of rams' horns: and the seventh day you shall compass the city seven times, and the kohenim shall blow with the shofar.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:5

And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the shofar of ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the shofar, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

The City Is Compassed

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:6
And Yehoshua the son of Nun called the kohenim, and said to them, Take up the ark of the covenant of YAHWEH, and let the seven kohenim carry seven shofar of rams' horns before the ark of the covenant.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:7

And he said to the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the covenant of YAHWEH.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:8

And it came to pass, when Yehoshua had spoken to the people, that the seven kohenim carrying the seven shofar of rams' horns passed on before YAHWEH, and blew with the shofar: and the ark of the covenant of YAHWEH followed them.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:9

And the armed men went before the kohenim that blew with the shofar, and the rereward came after the ark, the kohenim going on, and blowing with the shofar.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:10

And Yehoshua had commanded the people, saying, You shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you to shout; then shall you shout.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:11

So the ark of YAHWEH compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:12

And Yehoshua rose early in the morning, and the kohenim took up the ark of YAHWEH.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:13

And seven kohenim bearing seven shofar of rams' horns before the ark of YAHWEH went on continually, and blew with the shofar: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of YAHWEH, the kohenim going on, and blowing with the shofar.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:14

And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:15

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:16

And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the kohenim blew with the shofar, Yehoshua said to the people, Shout; for YAHWEH has given you the city.

Jericho Is Taken, Rahab And Her Family Are Saved

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:17

And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to YAHWEH: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:18

And you, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest you make yourselves accursed, when you take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Yisrael a curse, and trouble it.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:19

But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are kodesh to YAHWEH: they shall come into the treasury of YAHWEH.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:20

So the people shouted when the kohenim blew with the shofar: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the shofar, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:21

And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:22

But Yehoshua had said to the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she has, as you swore to her.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:23

And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Yisrael.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:24

And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of YAHWEH.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:25

And Yehoshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwells in Yisrael even to this day; because she hid the messengers, which Yehoshua sent to spy out Jericho.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:26

And Yehoshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before YAHWEH, that rises up and builds this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 6:27

So YAHWEH was with Yehoshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

7 YEHOSHUA BEN NUN -

JOSHUA 7

The Yisraelites Smitten At Ai

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:1

But the children of Yisrael committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Yahudah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of YAHWEH was kindled against the children of Yisrael.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:2

And Yehoshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, Go up and spy the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:3

And they returned to Yehoshua, and said to him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labor thither; for they are but few.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:4

So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:5

And the men of Ai smote about thirty six men: for they chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

Yehoshua's Humiliation And Prayer

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:6

And Yehoshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of YAHWEH until the evening, he and the elders of Yisrael, and put dust upon their heads.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:7

And Yehoshua said, Alas, O Sovereign YAHWEH, wherefore have you at all brought this people over Yardan river, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? If we would have been content, and dwelt on the other side Yardan!

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:8

O Sovereign YAHWEH, what shall I say, when Yisrael turns their backs before their enemies!

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:9

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what will you do to your great name?

YAHWEH Instructs Yehoshua What To Do

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:10

And YAHWEH said to Yehoshua, Get you up; wherefore are you lying upon your face?

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:11

Yisrael has sinned, and they have also transgressed MY covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and deceived also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:12

Therefore the children of Yisrael could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except you destroy the accursed from among you.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:13

Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: for thus saith YAHWEH the Sovereign Ruler of Yisrael, There is an accursed thing in the midst of you, O Yisrael: you can not stand before your enemies, until you take away the accursed thing from among you.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:14

In the morning therefore you shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which YAHWEH takes shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which YAHWEH shall take shall come by households; and the household which YAHWEH shall take shall come warrior by warrior.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:15

And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has: because he has transgressed the covenant of YAHWEH, and because he has wrought folly in Yisrael.

Achan Is Detected, He Is Destroyed

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:16

So Yehoshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Yisrael by their tribes; and the tribe of Yahudah was taken:

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:17

And he brought the family of Yahudah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites valiant warrior by valiant warrior; and Zabdi was taken:

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:18

And he brought his household valiant warrior by valiant warrior; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Yahudah, was taken.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:19

And Yehoshua said to Achan, My son, give, I pray you, honor to YAHWEH the Sovereign Ruler of Yisrael, and make confession to HIM; and tell me now what you have done; hide it not from me.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:20

And Achan answered Yehoshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against YAHWEH the Sovereign Ruler of Yisrael, and thus and thus have I done:

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:21

When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:22

So Yehoshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:23

And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them to Yehoshua, and to all the children of Yisrael, and laid them out before YAHWEH.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:24

And Yehoshua, and all Yisrael with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them to the valley of Achor.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:25

And Yehoshua said, Why have you troubled us? YAHWEH shall trouble you this day. And all Yisrael stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 7:26

And they raised over him a great heap of stones to this day. So YAHWEH turned from the fierceness of HIS anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, to this day

EZRA -2- ESDRAS 4:41

And with that he held his peace. And all the people then shouted, and said, Great is Truth, and mighty above all things.
