The Spirit Of Drunkenness And Glutting

The Reward For The Drunken And Gluttonous
And The Benefits Of Moderate Eating

Contents Of Sermon Message:

A Generation Consumed With The Lusts Of The Belly

In the days before the flood, the people were filled with drunkenness and gluttony. (Matthew 25:38,39) YHWH was not in their thoughts or actions. This is how it will be when YAHSHUA returns. America is a nation that is consumed with eating. The enemy has reduced the minds of men down to a beast-like mind. This generation is consumed with the lusts of it's own belly. We are commanded not to have an insatiable appetite or to give ourselves over to food. (Sirach 37:23-31) Gluttony destroys the body and YHWH will destroy those that destroy the body.

The Reward For The Drunken And Gluttonous

We are commanded to guide our hearts in the way of YAH and not among the drunken and gluttonous. The people of YAH should not sit in restaurants with the wicked filling their bellies. The drunken and gluttonous will be brought to poverty. (Proverbs 23:19-21)

The Benefit Of Moderate Eating

We should not be overcome with the greediness of our flesh when we set down to eat. Neither should we lust after every food we see or rush to get food before someone else does. We should eat what is set before us and chew with decency so that we would not be despised by others. We should be the first to stop eating so that we would not offend others. A well disciplined man is satisfied with a small amount and his sleep is easy. Sweet sleep depends on moderate eating. One who eats moderately will feel energized upon waking. (Sirach 31:12-24)

Reason Is Able To Control Desire

It is our own emotions that hinder us and cause us not to obey the Torah. Yet, someone who is a habitual gormandiser and drunk can learn to stop these habits if they adopt a way of life that is in accordance with the Torah. One is able to overcome any temptation when they begin to follow the Torah. The Torah prevails over any affection. (2 Maccabees 4:5-11)

Nuggets: Whatever your battle is you must confront it and do not give yourself over unto it. Reason is able to control desire.
